Route description

Italy is known to the world for its rich historical heritage, stunning architecture, warm sea, wonderful cuisine and fragrant wines. Millions of tourists come to Tuscany every year to appreciate the beauty of this Italian region. You will find beautiful nature, magnificent wines and dishes, many attractions, swimming and relaxing in the sun.
We also have to see not only the islands of the Tuscan archipelago, but also such historical centers as Elba, Siena and Grosseto.

Saturday
Our journey begins at Marina di Scarlino, Scarlino. It is located near Follonica, to which there is a direct train from the capital. We check in on the ship, buy provisions and Italian wines.

Sunday
We set a course for Elba, the largest island in the Tuscan archipelago and its capital Portoferrairo. This town once became a prison for Napoleon for 9 months. Here we will visit his villa Mullini and walk through the Medici bastions. The spirit of the Middle Ages has been preserved in this cozy town, which can be felt by walking around the historical center. Here, right on the embankment, we will have dinner with a wonderful view of the sea and the city.

Monday
Our route will go around the western tip of Elba, make stops for swimming and arrive on the island of Elba from the south side of Marina di Campo and go for a walk around the island, this is the most developed city after the capital of Elba, full of bars, restaurants, shops and nightclubs, there is also the longest sandy beach of the island.

Tuesday
Paradise Giannou awaits us, off the coast of which, until recently, the sunken liner Costa Concordia lay. Here we will swim, take a walk, and then move to Giglio, where we will spend the night. Both islands are incredibly picturesque, no wonder the Italians themselves just adore them. Giglio Island-in Roman times it was the most important base in the Tyrrhenian Sea. The island is mentioned by Gaius Julius Caesar in the "Notes on the Gallic War" Since 1264, the island was owned by the Republic of Pisa, then it was taken over by the Medici. Muslim pirates attacked the island several times and we will see the preserved watchtowers that were built to protect against the Saracens. The attraction for the rulers of the island was given by its quarries. Many of the columns adorning the palaces of Rome were carved from island granite. This island is beautiful for its unspoilt nature, white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. Other available pleasures are restaurants with delicious Italian cuisine, hiking and sightseeing. These are the ruins of a medieval castle at the top and numerous churches. The main temple with a marble altar is especially interesting. Giglio towns with red tiled roofs have preserved the unique spirit of the Italian province.

Wednesday
We head towards the mainland, stop for a swim, and in the evening arrive at the Marina di Grosseto parking lot. If desired, we will also go to the ancient Etruscan town of Grosseto and have dinner at one of the many authentic restaurants near the marina. The architectural appearance of Grosseto reflects the history of Italy with its brightest pages. The prehistoric culture of highly developed peoples, such as the Etruscans, is represented in the local Archaeological Museum. Grosseto will bring a lot of pleasure to lovers of gourmet tours and local natural wines.

Thursday
In the morning, we will enjoy the land landscapes of Italy on the way to Siena. The journey by car will take about an hour and a half. Walking in the shade of the Tuscan vineyards.Siena is where we will walk through one of the most beautiful cities in Italy. The atmosphere of the Middle Ages, Gothic buildings, masterpieces of art, organically integrated into modern realities, has been preserved here. On the way back we admire the classic views of the hills of Tuscany and on the way back we will have lunch in the vicinity of Montalcino, in the legendary castello Banfi, in the vineyard producing one of the best wines of Italy Brunello di Montalcino.
Tuscan cuisine is famous for its exquisite combination of flavors and traditional Italian products, recognizable all over the world. To visit Siena and not taste the national dishes is a gastronomic crime. Ripe vegetables, delicious cheeses and sausages, hot bread and pasta are sure to be found in local markets and supermarkets. In the evening, we return to our parking place Marina di Grosseto

Friday
And we go out to sea again. A picturesque path awaits us along the coast of the Tuscan archipelago, passing by the island of Sparviero, with a towering ancient fortress tower and Cape Castello di Punta Ala. We are returning to Puntone / Marina di Scarlino where our Italian holidays will end.
A presto Italia!
