we can offer you a more relaxed introductory format of a yachting master class - you will learn basic terms, make turns and, of course, just relax under sail.
It all depends on your goals and wishes.

J/70
A new generation sports yacht, one of the most popular boats today — the number of J/70 in the world is constantly growing.

The J/70 sailing yacht has good racing characteristics: speed, maneuverability, stability on the water, ease of operation. The yacht performs well both in light winds and in difficult weather conditions — with a large wave and strong wind.

J/70 is a keel yacht. The heavy cast-iron keel, located at the bottom of the boat, gives it stability. Such yachts do not turn over and are suitable not only for experienced yachtsmen, but also for absolute beginners.

Yacht crew
J/70 is a command yacht, its crew is up to 5 people + an instructor. In Moscow, children from 8 years old are allowed to participate in training and regattas, in Sochi — from 12 years old, necessarily under the supervision of an adult.

As a rule, the roles on the yacht J/70 are distributed as follows.

Bakovy is responsible for setting and cleaning the genaker, the largest "potbellied" sail on the yacht. The word comes from the Dutch bak, that is, the front of the yacht. On the J/70, the tank is in the cockpit with the rest of the team.

The shkotovs work with the staysail and mainsail sails.

The helmsman — everything is clear here, this is the person who controls the sailing yacht, in the case of the J/70 — using the tiller. At amateur regattas, the yacht is managed by a professional skipper-instructor, he distributes the roles between the participants, and also tells what to do and at what point.

Professional teams also have a tactician's role. As a rule, it is performed by a yachtsman who works with the mainsail. In amateur or novice teams, the skipper is responsible for tactics.

Prospects of the J/70 class
Every year, many J/70 yacht competitions are held in the world — from national to European and world championships.

In our country, the class has been developing since 2013 and the number of riders has been steadily growing. The Russian Championship in the J/70 class has been held since 2016 and gathers many strong teams from different regions of the country. In 2021, the Russian Cup in the J/70 class was played for the first time — this multi-stage series of regattas takes place in different waters of Moscow and Sochi and is a full-fledged alternative to the European summer series.
