The volcano of the same name is located here, the last eruption of which was recorded in the 3rd century BC. This volcano is still smoking and is the only active volcano on the Greek mainland. It is thanks to his small activity that several thermal springs and a famous spa center, founded back in 1870, are located on the island. There are a large number of churches and ancient temples on the peninsula.

The main man–made attraction of Metana is the ancient Acropolis, with preserved walls. The lemon forest of Galatas, where 3 thousand trees grow, enchants with its aroma. People have been convinced of the healing properties of the thermal waters of Methane for a long time, having experienced their effects. They are especially effective for dermatological problems and rheumatic ailments. Here, the Metana Spa Center, where therapeutic baths are held, is popular with holidaymakers. There are free springs "Baths of Pausanias", named after the writer and geographer of Ancient Greece. The water temperature in them reaches +34-36 ° C, contributing to a comfortable stay in the pool. A very famous and beautiful island, among the Saronic Islands. The port of Poros is located in an inner cozy bay, and from the top of Poros there is simply a divine view of the whole city and the bay. The whole life of the island is concentrated near the capital – the city of Poros, built in the form of an amphitheater on the slopes of the surrounding hills.
The atmosphere of Poros is imbued with the spirit of antiquity, legends of ancient gods and heroes. Most of the attractions are located near the coast. The ruins of the temple are the main sanctuary of the sea god, made in the style of Doric architecture. It contained a statue of Poseidon, more than 5 m high, and many other sculptures that were stolen. Also, one of the attractions of Poros is the Monastery of the Life-giving Spring - it was founded in the XVIII century near a spring with healing water, from which, after drinking water, Archbishop James II of Athens was cured of a serious illness. You can also visit the Archaeological Museum on the island - here you can see artifacts from the Roman and Mycenaean eras, things from pagan sanctuaries, household items.
Poros has magnificent beaches with clear azure water, golden sand and smooth,
hot pebbles.

One of the monuments of the city is the Clock Tower, built in 1927.

An interesting fact is that the famous artist who lived in Russia and France, Marc Chagall, loved to relax on the island. Here he drew inspiration, created his masterpieces, and painted the canvas "The Sun of Poros".

There are still corners of pristine nature and such beauty in Greece. The name of the island "Moni" translates as "monastery". It is the property of a monastery located on the opposite island of Aegina, hence the name. The word monastery in Greek means solitude. This uninhabited island embodies the very idea of solitude with Divine nature.

The only permanent residents of this protected area are wild animals and birds (goats, deer, peacocks, etc.), which, however, are so used to tourists that they enjoy eating out of their hands, if you do not forget to stock up on some treats for them.

And in the evening we will have a farewell dinner, friendly gatherings, a walk along the embankment.
