A unique 7-day trip to the Seychelles. We will visit a dozen of the largest and most famous islands of the Seychelles archipelago. Yachting training as well as the basics of freediving are included in the program. A very eventful trip with activities on the islands, on the water, under the water.
Seychelles is a paradise in the middle of the Indian Ocean - 115 wonderful islands, of which only 30 are inhabited.
The capital is Victoria, Mahe Island. In fact, it is the only city in the Seychelles in the classical sense, with cozy streets and colonial architecture. All the sights - from a miniature replica of Big Ben to the neat, like a toy, St. Peter's Cathedral. They are concentrated in the city center - on the Long Pier and Market Street. It is in Victoria, in Eden Marina, that our sea voyage will begin.
During the first crossing to Fregate Island, we will walk about 30 miles and visit the small islands of Recif and Lilo. Frigate is a small granite island in the Seychelles archipelago, 2 km long and 1 km wide. There is wild and very picturesque nature, sandy beaches, and according to legend, even the treasures of the filibusters are buried. There are 7 beaches on the island, all very clean, beautiful and sparsely populated. On the southern coast of the island there are excellent conditions for freediving, it is here that you can observe colorful corals and other beauties of the underwater world.
The next stop, La Digue Island, is only 15 miles away, so we will not rush to leave the Frigate and enjoy plenty of swimming and diving. La Digue is known for its powerful granite cliffs, the majestic Eagle's Nest Mountain and the Union Estate Park, where Emmanuel was once filmed. Giant turtles up to 150 years old walk around the island. We will have enough time to ride bicycles through nature reserves and enjoy the beauty and unique wildlife of this wonderful island.
We will start the fourth day of our trip early in the morning, as we plan to visit several interesting islands and come to Praslin before dark. We will pass by the islands of Marianne and Felicite and anchor at the Cocos Islands. Three small islets, Ile Platte, Ile Aux Cocos, Ile La Fouche, collectively known as the Cocos Islands, lie half a mile northwest of Felicite. Snorkeling is what you need to do here - on a coral reef, in shallow water in the purest water. We will see bizarre corals of various shapes and colors, a variety of fish - from small coral fish several centimeters long to one and a half meter coral sharks. The Sister Islands have two yacht anchorages, both off the island of the Elder Sister (Grande Soeur). The most interesting anchorage is to the east of the island, because here the yacht will be protected from the winter northwest monsoons. The island of the Elder Sister is private, you will have to pay for going ashore.
After spending the night in the marina of Praslin Island, we will visit the Valle de Maire Nature Reserve with tropical forests that have not changed their appearance for thousands of years. There also grows the famous Coco de Mer palm tree with the most unusual coconuts in the world and rare black parrots.
After visiting Praslin and its many attractions, we will head west to Silhouette Island. On the way, we will definitely visit Cousine Island, a small private nature reserve in the collection of Seychelles Inner Islands; as well as North Island, its ideal beaches with soft white sand are considered one of the most beautiful in the Seychelles. Silhouette is the third largest of the Inner Islands. The view of the juicy green, mountainous Silhouette profile dominates the ocean horizon. The Arabs used the Silhouette as a base for their ships already in the early 9th century, a fact attested by the ruins of an Arab tomb in Anse Lascars. The beauty of the Silhouette is an ideal backdrop for fans of hiking who want to penetrate the secrets of the island, once reputed to be the refuge of the pirate Stilt, who buried his treasures here.
We will spend the final stage of our trip on Mahe Island, exploring its western and southern parts in detail, and the nearby islands - Surf, St.Anna et al. In the northwestern part of Mahe, the Seychelles' largest National Park, the Seychelles Morne, is located. It is named after the highest mountain on Mahe, located in the center of the park. From the top of the mountain (905 meters), a breathtaking panorama of the entire island opens. On the west coast of Mahe are the isolated beaches of Anse Soleli and Anse Petit Polis. You can only get here by jeep or boat, but these beaches hidden in palm trees and the sea teeming with marine life are worth it. Here, on the west coast, there are several dive centers where we can rent equipment and explore the underwater part of the Mae.
Saint Anne Island is the largest island in the marine park. The island was the first on which the French established a colony before they settled on Mahe Island, which was once teeming with crocodiles. For most of the 19th century, the island served as a whaling stationy, which closed in 1915. Saint Anne has four beaches: Grand Anse, which stretches along the resort area; Royal Beach and Turtle Beach, where sea turtles lay eggs during the full moon from late November to February. Anse Manon beach, which can be reached by walking along the coast and through the rainforest.
Cerf (Ile au Cerf) is the second largest island in the marine park. The island was named after the naval frigate "Le Cerf", which arrived at the Port of Victoria in 1756. The captain of the ship took possession of the island, laying the Ownership Stone on Mahe. During the early colonization, the island was a quarantine station and there was a hospital for the treatment of infectious white sailors. There are excellent diving spots around the island, especially on the reef on the north side, where divers can see more than 150 species of colorful fish, crabs, sea urchins, octopuses, starfish, giant turtles and clown fish.
