IYT Yachtmaster Coastal Skipper Theory Course

The training covers the core skills and knowledge needed to handle a yacht with confidence. Group size is limited to 10 participants to ensure a personal approach.

What you’ll learn:
Navigation: chart reading, use of navigational instruments, passage planning.
Meteorology: weather forecasting and analyzing sea conditions.
Maritime law: key international regulations, signals, and the skipper’s obligations.
Safety at sea: emergency procedures and use of lifesaving equipment.
Rigging and sail handling: fundamentals for further practical training.
The course is delivered online, allowing you to study at a convenient time. Progress tests help reinforce the material and prepare you for the exam.

This course is the first step toward obtaining an international skipper’s license and opening up the world of sea travel.

The training runs for 4 weeks in an online format, twice a week (each class lasts 2.5–3 hours).

Test your knowledge
To receive a course completion certificate, you need to pass the assessment and score at least 75 out of 100 (all the materials needed to succeed are included in this course).
