Tour itinerary

Tenerife — Mallorca: an expedition across the Atlantic and the Mediterranean

1,500 nautical miles from the Canary Islands to the fairytale Palma de Mallorca is not just a route — it’s a true sea adventure! We set off from Tenerife, stop on verdant Madeira, cross the Atlantic and pass the legendary Strait of Gibraltar.
After the ocean swells, we’ll relax in sunny Seville, stroll through historic Cartagena, and feel the energy of Ibiza. We’ll finish in Mallorca — where the sea, style, and zest for life come together perfectly.

This voyage is a rare chance to gain real hands-on yacht-skippering experience, learn to work with weather and navigation, tackle a serious passage, and become part of a true team.

The entire 1,500 NM passage is divided into legs:
- Canary Islands – Madeira.
- Madeira – Gibraltar.
- Gibraltar – Cartagena.
- Cartagena – Ibiza – Mallorca.
This is not a laid-back cruise but a full-fledged sea voyage with careful planning, night watches, and close attention to weather and navigation. The route may change due to weather conditions!

Leg 1

18.04 — boat handover, introductions, safety briefing, provisioning.

19–21.04 Passage Canary Islands – Madeira. 285 NM, approx. 3 days. Stop in Funchal Marina; estimated berth fee €50. Top up water and fuel; provision as needed. In Funchal we can take the cable car over the city to the tropical gardens in Monte, or simply wander the streets and discover local culture and cuisine.

Leg 2

23–28.04 Passage Madeira – Gibraltar. 615 NM, approx. 6 days. Stop at La Línea marina; estimated berth fee €50. Stay 2–3 nights depending on arrival time. Day trip by car to Seville and Jerez if someone has a driving licence. Car rental around €200/day; an apartment in Jerez about €100 per night for 6 people.
This is the longest open-ocean leg, in the Atlantic. In Gibraltar we’ll stay 2–3 nights to rest after the passage and visit Jerez and Seville. In Seville we’ll visit the Cathedral, where Columbus’s remains are kept, and stroll the historic centre. We’ll overnight in Jerez and sample local wines at dinner.

Leg 3

01–03.05 Passage Gibraltar – Cartagena. 240 NM, approx. 2.5 days. Berth in the marina, estimated €50. Our journey along the Spanish coast continues with a stop in Cartagena, a port that has always been of great importance thanks to its strategic position. Here we can visit the archaeological museum with exhibits from prehistoric times to the Roman era.

Leg 4

04–08.05 Passage Cartagena – Ibiza – Mallorca. 215 NM, approx. 2 days under way plus a one-night stop in Ibiza.
The final and shortest part of our voyage. We’ll make a brief stop on Ibiza to see the sights and, perhaps, its famous nightlife. We’ll end our adventure in Mallorca, where it’s definitely worth staying a couple more days to explore the island’s highlights.
