"Placebo" - a modern motor boat with the performance of a sport boat and the comfort level of a yacht. A wide aft lounge sits right at the water, the bow deck is open for sun, and inside there is a compact air conditioned cabin for a break during the day. The setup works for an eight hour run along the Corfu coast: fast hops between coves, lunch on board, swimming in clear water.
Navigation, boat handling and service are handled by the crew.
Possible route (8 hours)
Departure from Benitses Marina in the morning and an easy run north along the east coast. First stop is the Vlacherna Monastery and Pontikonisi. The white chapel sits out on a small spit of rock and the airport runway is close, so planes pass low over the water. Pontikonisi itself is low and green, with a small chapel on top. Water taxis shuttle back and forth from shore.
The route then continues into Kommeno Bay. In the middle of the bay there is a small islet with the chapel of Ipapanti, surrounded by pines and villas on the waterfront. The water is flat and calm here, good for anchoring and swimming off the stern. This is a natural pause for a light lunch.
After lunch the boat heads toward Kalami. The bay is closed in by green hills and there is a white waterfront house known from the Durrell family. Small yachts sit on laid moorings along the beach. It is a quiet anchorage and suits an unhurried swim and time on deck.
Next stop is Kassiopi. It is a small harbor with a stone quay and two coves. Bataria Bay has pebble shore and very clear water, and you can usually see fish along the rocks. A short stop here works for swimming and snorkeling close to the beach.
On the way back there can be a final call in Agni. It is a narrow cove with three tavernas right on the water. Toward evening the lights sit low along the quay and the shoreline reflects on the surface. Return to Benitses runs down the coast in late light with the hills going green above the water.

Sailing since childhood, yachting since my teens, and a life at sea.
